Color, Color Everywhere Art Class @ Clover Ridge Elementary

Abrakadoodle-Color, Color Everywhere (grades K-5)

Get wildly creative in this colorful fall art class.  Make a wild thing inspired by the creature in “Where The Wild Things Are”, sculpt owls, paint with scissors (like Matisse), create a colorful chalk peacock, and watercolor some fall leaves.  In this fun fall class we’ll explore lots of medium and create some awesome art.  Abrakadoodle is the leader in children’s art education bringing art programs to over 1 million students throughout the world!

Conversational Spanish @ Clover Ridge Elementary

Spanish Level I & II
Build your child’s language foundation!
This lively introduction to the Spanish language used a dynamic, hands-on method of instruction called the Building Block Method of Learning to teach basic Spanish components using songs, games and cultural activities.  Your child will learn how to ask and answer basic questions in Spanish, speak briefly about his or her family, count to 100 and correctly pronounce all Spanish letters.  Using a conversational approach, students will also learn vocabulary related to colors, animals, body parts and clothing and will begin to make complete sentences in Spanish.

Spanish Level II & III (Carver Elementary Only)
Using a conversational approach and our dynamic hands-on instruction, students will learn vocabulary related to colors, animals, body parts, and clothing and will be begin to make complete sentences in Spanish.  Students will also be able to to say months of the year, classroom objects and discuss monthly weather patterns and relate them to a particular season.  Every week a cultural component is also covered in our exciting classes!

Spanish Level III & IV
Take Spanish to the next level!
Students really take Spanish to the next level in this exciting course which allows students to build on previous knowledge to make more complex sentence structures.  For example: Students will be able to say the months of the year, discuss monthly weather patterns and relate them to a particular season.  Additional topics will include classroom objects, birthdays, sports, transportation, the outdoors and places.  By the end of the course students will be able to translate the verb IR and appropriately use Me gusta in various sentences.  A fun instructional method along with fascinating cultural topics ensure that students will also love this class!

New and returning students invited. Each {YEL!} Chess class follows four basic components:
•Teach It!…Each class, students are taught different chess concepts and coached to implement those concepts into their chess games
•Practice It!…Students practice positions set by the coach to improve their understanding of the concept.
•Puzzle It!… Students are given chess puzzles (constructed by WIM Serafima Sokolovskaya) and work with coach guidance to solve them.
•Play It!…Each class ends with students playing 20-30 minutes of chess. Coaches often feature in-class tournaments during the session.

Flag Football @ Jonathan Elementary

Grades 2-5
Get ready to dash to the end zone with our high-octane Flag Football course. Develop your basic passing, catching, defending, and teamwork skills. Safety and sportsmanship are emphasized. Each week we do basic skill-building exercises followed by action-packed games to cement those skills. Sure to energize young athletes!

A Series of Unfortunate One-Acts @ La Academia

This fall, Drama Kids will offer a class unlike any other. Join in the fun and explore drama by performing in our original one-act plays. We will be telling tales of mistakes, mishaps, accidents, and ill-fated situations. Create a character in body, voice, and attitude, and be ready to laugh as they try to succeed in their hopeless dilemmas. Everyone gets a part and all experience levels welcome.

And at the end of the semester, join us on Wednesday, December 12th in the La Academia gym at 3:55pm as we present an afternoon of unfortunate one-acts!

Amazing Athletes @ Jonathan Elementary

Children ages 3-5 1/2.  This is a perfect class to get moving and learn new sports and skills.  Amazing Athletes gives every child the chance to learn the fundamentals of many different sports along with hand-eye coordination, gross motor skills and cognitive development.  These sampler classes will include the following sports rotating every week: baseball, basketball, volleyball, football, golf, soccer, lacrosse, hockey and tennis.  Come join the fun!

Choir-Bluff Creek Singers @ Bluff Creek Elementary

Are you in 4th or 5th grade at Bluff Creek Elementary and love to sing?  Join the Bluff Creek Choir!  In just one morning per week, we’ll learn so much great music.   We will have concerts and also carry on the Bluff Creek tradition of singing the National Anthem at a spring Twins Game! Looking forward to singing with you.
