Youth Stand-up Paddleboard @ Lake Minnewashta Regional Park

Ages 8-14

Hit the lake with this new and exciting adventure paddling sport!  Born from Hawaiian surf culture, paddleboards can provide a fun method of exploring the lake.  This program is designed for beginner-level paddlers.  Instruction will start on land with brief water safety, balance tips, and paddling strokes, then head out on the water!  All necessary paddling equipment will be provided.  Participants should come prepared to get wet.  In partnership with Carver County Parks.

Staying Connected: Parents and Teens @ Chanhassen High School

STAYING CONNECTED!  A workshop for parents and teens ages 14-18!  Navigating the world and gaining independence as a teenager is wonderful, empowering, and terrifying!  Being a supportive parent during this time can feel exciting and overwhelming!  Join health educators from myHealth for Teens & Young Adults for a fun and informative three hour workshop and feel confident in your unique parent-teen relationship!  Teens ages 14-18 and their parent(s) or other trusted adult(s) will engage in fun and thought provoking activities to learn about intimacy, healthy relationships, and how to stay connected and communicate about sensitive and sometimes uncomfortable conversations.  Please enroll under your child’s name and include parent/adult name in the enrollment question section.

•Teach It!…Students are taught multiple hand and machine sewing techniques;
•Practice It!… Students practice those techniques on basic projects;
•Sew It!…Students increase their skill and sew more complicated projects;
•Own It!…Students showcase their projects on the last day of class (family and friends are invited), then take everything home with them to walk the runway of everyday life!

Beginner Archery Camp @ Lake Minnewashta Regional Park

Ages 8-14

Does your child want to be an archer who can split an arrow like Robin Hood?  Then this camp is their place to learn about archery and practice their skills!  Through fun games and experiential learning, participants will learn range safety and proper techniques for stance, aim, and release to improve their shot.  Campers will get the opportunity to shoot both compound and recurve bows at various target styles.

Campers should come prepared for the weather conditions and should pack a backpack with snacks, reusable water bottle, sunscreen, hat or sun glasses, snack, and close-toed shoes. All other necessary equipment will be provided.  Meet at shelter #4. This camp will be held outdoors at Lake Minnewashta Park and is a partnership between Carver County Parks.
