Becoming independent, becoming social, becoming imaginative describes the world of the 2-3 year old. Explore the developmental needs of the ‘becoming’ preschooler and the parenting strategies to assist your child’s growth and learning. Sibling care is available, registration is required.
World of Movers & Shakers (8-14 months by 9/1/18) Gradually Separating
Your baby is on the move in so many ways! This stage is full of learning and milestones. Discover ways to support your emerging toddler’s overall development and have fun learning and growing together.

Spanish Level I & II
Build your child’s language foundation!
This lively introduction to the Spanish language used a dynamic, hands-on method of instruction called the Building Block Method of Learning to teach basic Spanish components using songs, games and cultural activities. Your child will learn how to ask and answer basic questions in Spanish, speak briefly about his or her family, count to 100 and correctly pronounce all Spanish letters. Using a conversational approach, students will also learn vocabulary related to colors, animals, body parts and clothing and will begin to make complete sentences in Spanish.
Spanish Level II & III (Carver Elementary Only)
Using a conversational approach and our dynamic hands-on instruction, students will learn vocabulary related to colors, animals, body parts, and clothing and will be begin to make complete sentences in Spanish. Students will also be able to to say months of the year, classroom objects and discuss monthly weather patterns and relate them to a particular season. Every week a cultural component is also covered in our exciting classes!
Spanish Level III & IV
Take Spanish to the next level!
Students really take Spanish to the next level in this exciting course which allows students to build on previous knowledge to make more complex sentence structures. For example: Students will be able to say the months of the year, discuss monthly weather patterns and relate them to a particular season. Additional topics will include classroom objects, birthdays, sports, transportation, the outdoors and places. By the end of the course students will be able to translate the verb IR and appropriately use Me gusta in various sentences. A fun instructional method along with fascinating cultural topics ensure that students will also love this class!
Looking to start the new year right? Get a complete body workout in 45 minutes! Work your whole body with a variety of exercises and equipment! Many formats will be used to always challenge your body and never get bored! This workout will include strength, cardio, and flexibility! All equipment is provided including mats (unless you choose to bring your own). All levels welcome! What are you waiting for? Being the “best version of you” starts here!
Jazz band is a great extra-curricular elective where you are able to explore an important American music tradition. You will practice, listen to, and perform many styles of jazz influenced music including: the blues, swing, be-bop, Latin-jazz, funk, rock and more! Jazz band is a great way to improve your musicianship skills on your instrument, play different styles of music, and learn about improvisation! ALL BAND INSTRUMENTS ARE WELCOME TO JOIN JAZZ BAND! If you play guitar, bass, piano or drum set this is a great opportunity for you to enhance your musicianship on those instruments. This course is for 7th and 8th grade students at Chaska Middle School East.

Discover the developmental needs of a one year old and explore the world of the young toddler. What excites and drives them? Discover what parents can do to maintain equilibrium in the household amidst the opposing drives of this age. Sibling care available. Registration is required.
Wiggles & Giggles Morning (1-5 by 9/1/18) Separating
The wiggling and giggling will begin with parent & child interaction time. After a lively circle, parents will join the Parent Educator facilitated discussion group, giving you the opportunity to engage with others about topics ranging from eating & sleeping, toileting and social skills challenges and strategies.

If you love country or bluegrass music, there is now a group for you. The Country/Bluegrass Ensemble may be your first step to becoming a country superstar. This ensemble learns traditional bluegrass styles and current contemporary country hit songs. Performances are then scheduled to give students a chance to show off their skills. We are looking for singers, guitarists, banjo players, mandolin players, steel guitarists, violinists, bass players, and drummers who have at least one year experience on their instruments. Performances at the CMSW Talent Show on Friday, January 11, The Rock-It! Concert on Friday, February 1 and a closing event in February.
Audition is required.
Auditions will be held on Monday, Oct. 8 in the CMSW Band Room at 3:50 p.m. and Wednesday, Oct. 10 in the PRMS Band Room at 3:50 p.m.
Students should choose one of these dates. No sign up is necessary to audition. Audition material will be available in the PRMS, CMSE and CMSW band rooms by Sept. 10.
Please don’t register for class until audition results have been posted.
Did you know maintaining a healthy body is more than just your body weight? Your body composition is your skeletal muscle compared to your fat mass (body fat). Kaari Hilgert, Personal Trainer will be conducting body composition screenings to measure weight, body mass index (BMI), body fat, skeletal muscle, body age, resting metabolism, and visceral fat. This 20 minute screening includes the results as well as individualized suggestions for maintain and/or improving body composition.
