Lunch & Learn (Parent/Guardian of Preschoolers) Adult Only

An exploration of child rearing best practices that support the positive growth and development of preschool age children as well as learning how to help them navigate the changes in preschool development. Pack a lunch for yourself and join in the parent educator facilitated group discussion. If your preschool child/and or younger child/children are not in other programming during this class, they will have lunch and play time in the sibling care classroom. Please make sure to register any children for sibling care that are not already in programming if you need it. Registration is required.

Self Care for Parents/Guardians @ Family Learning Center

Self-Care for Guardians/Parents NEW (Adult Only)

Would you like to feel calmer and more relaxed as a caregiver in order to create a more easy-going relationship with your child?  Are you interested in being emotionally supported in a meaningful and powerful way?  Join parent educator, Sheila Bauer, in the practice of self-care using mind-body skills like mindfulness and other evidence-based techniques, that are designed to relieve symptoms of stress and trauma.  The entire class time is devoted to YOU, because we know that when you take care of yourself–you take better care of your children.  (This class can be emotionally intense at times, many call it transformative.  Participants will have the opportunity to delve deeper into self-care than they do in a typical parent education class.  Please contact Sheila Bauer with questions:  bauers@district112.org).  Sibling care available.

Sewing Basics: Bedroom-Style Pillow Case @ DEC

In this sewing class, you will learn the basics of machine sewing.  Learn how to thread a machine, discover the purpose of all those dials and buttons on your machine, tips and tricks for the perfect straight stitch and walk out with a custom, handmade bedroom-style pillow case! You are encouraged to bring your own machine, but we will have machines available for use as well.  You must bring all materials to class and be sure to purchase the correct type of fabric for the best result.  Ask for assistance at the store if needed.  Please watch your course confirmation for a link to the list of materials to bring with you to class.
