Kung Fu- Wu Shu @ Chaska Middle School East

Ages 5+

Learn the lifelong benefits of Kung Fu, the Chinese art of self-defense and fitness, from a Hong Kong champion. Not just a punching, kicking, self-defense class, Kung Fu teaches awareness of self and surroundings and improves self-esteem and confidence. Join a FUN, progressive, full participation class that focuses on helping students develop leadership, discipline, concentration and coordination skills for a healthy mind and body. Improve your coordination, strength, flexibility and endurance. Parents: don’t sit at the sideline. Sign up and participate with your child in class.  This is a skill building progressive training program for beginners through Black Belt. Optional uniform and certification from White to Black Belt are available. Note: Session A is for Beginner, White and Yellow Belt while Session B is for Orange – Black Belt. Instruments and Sparring class for Yellow through Black Belt students age 8 and up who are currently in the Kung Fu – Wu Shu program.

Contemporary Ballet @ Chanhassen High School

This class combines elements of ballet and modern dance.  Class content includes a warm up, across the floor combos, and a choreographed dance routine.  This is a gentle form of exercise to improve strength, balance, and flexibility.  It’s a great way to de-stress  after a long day.  No dance experience required.  Bring ballet or jazz dance shoes.

Fitness, Midnfulness and Yoga Fun with Fitness Boomers @ Clover Ridge Elementary

This class has a little of everything you need for an active healthy lifestyle! Have fun with a mini fitness boot camp, games, activities, and rhythmic dancing.  We will focus on developing a greater awareness of both body, mind wellness and breathing as we learn how to be a healthy person in mind and body. Learn to focus and concentrate on how meditation can help lift mind and spirit. Increase balance, flexibility, agility, coordination, speed and motor skills. Learn about healthy eating habits, good sportsmanship and active life style and encourage personal fitness that can stretch through the adolescent and adulthood.  We’ll focus on different topics each week, ranging from Love and Kindness to How to overcome frustration and sadness.  Please bring a mat if you have one!

STEM Enrichment using LEGO® bricks for the 21st Century learner.  Each {YEL!} STEM class follows four basic components: Teach It!…Each class students are taught the basic STEM engineering concepts behind each project.  Build It!…Students use LEGO® bricks to build a crane and design their own bridge and watchtower. Beyond Pinch Pots with Kidcreate Studio @ Jonathan Elementary

Every kid loves making pinch pots! But let’s go beyond that and learn super cool techniques to transform pinch pots into puppy pals, silly rabbits, playful penguins and much more. Not only will the kids learn the basics of working with clay but they will create amazing clay creations that are way cooler than a plain old ordinary pinch pot! Shhhh, don’t tell anyone, but this class is our best-kept secret! Register early before it fills up!

Grandmasters of Chess @ Jonathan Elementary

New and returning students invited. Each {YEL!} Chess class follows four basic components:
•Teach It!…Each class, students are taught different chess concepts and coached to implement those concepts into their chess games
•Practice It!…Students practice positions set by the coach to improve their understanding of the concept.
•Puzzle It!… Students are given chess puzzles (constructed by WIM Serafima Sokolovskaya) and work with coach guidance to solve them.
•Play It!…Each class ends with students playing 20-30 minutes of chess. Coaches often feature in-class tournaments during the session.

“Middle Ground” Pop Music Experience @ Chaska Middle School West

For 15 years Heidi & Eric Songer have been offering the Garage Band program for students with music experience to perform rock music in a band setting. This spring they are introducing an innovative twist on this very popular program. Middle Ground is an opportunity to be in a band and learn and perform current Top 40 hits by artists such as Taylor Swift, Imagine Dragons, Charlie Puth, Justin Bieber, Portugal The Man, Niall Horan, DJ Khaled, Shawn Mendes, Demi Lovato, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, Maroon 5, Khalid, Kesha, Chainsmokers, and many more. Students must have at least TWO years of experience on one of the following instruments: piano, bass guitar, drum set, guitar, singing or rapping. We are also looking for students with experience working with Garage Band, Ableton, or Logic. There will be a performance at the end of the school year.
