Grandmasters of Chess @ Clover Ridge Elementary
Mar 1 @ 2:35 pm – 3:35 pm

New and returning students invited. Each {YEL!} Chess class follows four basic components:
•Teach It!…Each class, students are taught different chess concepts and coached to implement those concepts into their chess games
•Practice It!…Students practice positions set by the coach to improve their understanding of the concept.
•Puzzle It!… Students are given chess puzzles (constructed by WIM Serafima Sokolovskaya) and work with coach guidance to solve them.
•Play It!…Each class ends with students playing 20-30 minutes of chess. Coaches often feature in-class tournaments during the session.

Fundamentals and fun are in store. Emphasis is placed on basic skills development of dribbling, shooting, passing, sportsmanship and teamwork. We then use engaging and dynamic games to cement students’ growth including our unique three-on-three style game. This is a high-octane class with an inclusive atmosphere. But hurry, the shot-clock is running down!

STEM Enrichment using LEGO® bricks for the 21st Century learner.  Each {YEL!} LEGO STEM class follows four basic components:

Teach it!…Each class students are taught the basic STEM engineering concepts behind each project. Science Comes Alive! @ La Academia

Explore chemistry as you figure out the difference between solutions and suspensions and experience the power of chemical reactions. Ready, Set, Create with Abrakadoodle @ Victoria Elementary

In this fun class we will use lots of cool materials like: plaster tape, ripped papers and chalk pastels.  Learn how to draw tigers, use ripped paper to create a colorful landscape, create 3-D hearts using plaster tape and use chalk pastels to create the Northern lights.  We’ll explore lots of medium and art techniques to create some amazing art.  Abrakadoodle is the leader in children’s art education bringing art programs to over 1 million students throughout the world!

Zumba Kids + Kids Junior @ La Academia

Zumba® Kids + Kids Junior is a class that features kid-friendly dance routines based on original Zumba® choreography.  This class breaks down the steps, add games, activities and cultural exploration elements into the class structure.  It helps develop a healthy lifestyle and incorporates fitness as a natural part of children’s lives by making fitness fun.  This class will be held in a Spanish immersion setting.  Your child will get a passport filled with the different cultures we explore!

Kung Fu- Wu Shu @ Chanhassen Elementary

Ages 5+

Learn the lifelong benefits of Kung Fu, the Chinese art of self-defense and fitness, from a Hong Kong champion. Not just a punching, kicking, self-defense class, Kung Fu teaches awareness of self and surroundings and improves self-esteem and confidence. Join a FUN, progressive, full participation class that focuses on helping students develop leadership, discipline, concentration and coordination skills for a healthy mind and body. Improve your coordination, strength, flexibility and endurance. Parents: don’t sit at the sideline. Sign up and participate with your child in class.  This is a skill building progressive training program for beginners through Black Belt. Optional uniform and certification from White to Black Belt are available. Note: Session A is for Beginner, White and Yellow Belt while Session B is for Orange – Black Belt. Instruments and Sparring class for Yellow through Black Belt students age 8 and up who are currently in the Kung Fu – Wu Shu program.

YEL Intramural Basketball @ Bluff Creek Elementary
Mar 1 @ 6:15 pm – 7:15 pm

4th & 5th grades
This is a local, intramural basketball program for 4th and 5th graders. No traveling. All games are played in house. Players will learn intermediate basketball skills, basic basketball playing concepts (i.e. give and go, pick and roll, man-to-man, zone) and play 3-on-3 or 4-on-4 half court games, as well as 5-on-5 full court (no cherry picking) games. Teams are intermingled each practice, so each player will get opportunities to play with multiple teammates. Sign up today to get in the game and get your pulse-pounding!
