Beyond Pinch Pots with Kidcreate Studio @ Chanhassen Elementary

Every kid loves making pinch pots! But let’s go beyond that and learn super cool techniques to transform pinch pots into puppy pals, silly rabbits, playful penguins and much more. Not only will the kids learn the basics of working with clay but they will create amazing clay creations that are way cooler than a plain old ordinary pinch pot! Shhhh, don’t tell anyone, but this class is our best-kept secret! Register early before it fills up!

Grandmasters of Chess @ Carver Elementary

New and returning students invited. Each {YEL!} Chess class follows four basic components:
•Teach It!…Each class, students are taught different chess concepts and coached to implement those concepts into their chess games
•Practice It!…Students practice positions set by the coach to improve their understanding of the concept.
•Puzzle It!… Students are given chess puzzles (constructed by WIM Serafima Sokolovskaya) and work with coach guidance to solve them.
•Play It!…Each class ends with students playing 20-30 minutes of chess. Coaches often feature in-class tournaments during the session.

Science Comes Alive! @ Clover Ridge Elementary

Discover how Science Comes Alive with Mad Science! Wonder at the marvels of natural science as you explore how animals adapt to their environments, how bugs defend themselves, and how life can survive at the bottom of the sea. Discover the secrets of science’s impact on the brain through magic tricks and art. Explore chemistry as you figure out the difference between solutions and suspensions and experience the power of chemical reactions. Delve into the science of paleontology and learn about life long gone: the dinosaurs! And of course, get a great signature Mad Science take-home every day! Track and Field @ Chaska Middle School West

It’s time for track!  Develop skills, knowledge and experience with various running and field events.  The program includes inter-squad and area school meets, and a track t-shirt.  Wear running shoes and plan for the weather with appropriate clothing.  The first day of practice the participants should report to the CMSW Small Gym changed and ready to practice. Please register by the school your student attends. Parents and athletes will receive the season schedule during the first week of practice.

Jr. Dance @ La Academia

For grades K-5

Glissade, pirouette and chasse´ your way across the floor as you learn fundamental dance repertoire while preparing for the end of session recital. Each {YEL!} Junior Dance class follows four basic components: •Teach It Each class students are taught dance fundamentals.•Practice It! Students practice those fundamentals as a group and individually. •Move It! They implement what they’ve learned into across-the-floor and bar routines. •Dance It! Finally, students put it all together in a choreographed routine in preparation for the recital. Fencing is one of the fastest growing sports in the USA and Youth Enrichment League (YEL) fencing continues to evolve to match that pace. Olympic Coach Ro Sobalvarro heads up YEL’s curriculum, ongoing instructor training and tournament consultation. Coach Sobalvarro brings with him an immense knowledge of youth, national and international fencing. Fall is a great time for beginning and returning students. New students get introduced to a pulse-pounding sport while returning students continue their study through Coach Sobalvarro’s progressive curriculum. Safety is our first priority. We supply safety swords, protective masks, chest plates and jackets, in a high-octane, inclusive environment. STEM Enrichment using LEGO® bricks for the 21st Century learner.  Each {YEL!} STEM class follows four basic components: Teach It!…Each class students are taught the basic STEM engineering concepts behind each project.  Build It!…Students use LEGO® bricks to build a crane and design their own bridge and watchtower.
