Early Childhood Screening

The early childhood years from birth to the start of kindergarten are an important time of rapid learning and growth. Early Childhood Screening is a simple check of how your child is growing and developing. Between the ages of 3 and 4, screening can detect possible health or learning concerns so that children can get help before they start school. Parents accompany their child through the approximate hour-long process. After the screening activities, the screener shares information on the child’s growth, development, and learning. The screening is free for all students.

Screening is held at the Family Learning Center which is located at 110600 Village Road, Chaska.  You will receive information to bring along with you after you complete your registration today using this online system.

Early Childhood Screening is not a “test.” Your child will not pass/fail. It is a tool to identify concerns, if any exist, to provide help before kindergarten. Screening is required before entering Kindergarten in a MN public school.

Early childhood developmental screening helps a school district identify children who may benefit from district and community resources available to help in their development. Early childhood developmental screening includes a vision screening that helps detect potential eye problems but is not a substitute for a comprehensive eye exam.
